Listing basics to save before payment

Start with the details that should be easy to document before money moves.

  • Full address and exact unit or room description when applicable.
  • Available dates, move-in time, move-out date, and any minimum-stay terms.
  • Host, owner, manager, or platform contact shown in the same channel where you found the listing.
  • Current photos, live walkthrough, or other current unit verification when available.

Money and written terms

  • Total amount due today, total amount due before move-in, and recurring rent amount.
  • What the deposit or first payment secures, written in plain language.
  • Refund, cancellation, delayed-arrival, early move-out, cleaning, pet, parking, utility, and internet terms.
  • Receipt process and where the written agreement or platform record will live.

Assignment timing questions

  • Is your written assignment offer or contract issued before the housing payment is due?
  • Are start date, orientation date, unit, shift, and expected contract length clear enough to save?
  • What assignment detail could still change before arrival, and who confirms that in writing?
  • What housing money would be exposed if the start date moves or the assignment changes? Treat this as a planning question, not a legal conclusion.

Arrival-week logistics

  • Move-in instructions, access plan, parking details, pet details, laundry, Wi-Fi, utilities, and maintenance contact.
  • Commute route checked at the shift time you expect to work.
  • First-night backup lodging option saved before you travel.
  • Screenshots or PDFs of the listing, messages, written terms, payment receipts, and contact details saved in one folder.
